Newsletter 3 - September 6, 2005:

Hi!  Welcome to the latest issue of
'Nita's Helping Hands'!  A special welcome to our new
subscribers -- I hope this finds you all safe and well!

I hope all of my friends in the States had a safe and
enjoyable Labor Day weekend!

I spent time with friends Friday, Saturday and Sunday,
then I decided to spend Monday relaxing at home.

Our State Fair was in the last few weeks and I was able
to attend a couple of concerts and found my favorite
fudge vendor!  Life is good!  My Mom spent a weekend with
me and went to one of the concerts, too.  It's always
great to spend time with Mom!

I had intended to use this issue of 'Nita's Helping Hands'
to focus on publicity (as a follow up to the last edition)
but after what has happened with Hurricane Katrina, I
decided to dedicate this issue to all those who lost their
homes, their belongings, and most importantly, their lives
or the lives of their loved ones to this devastating
hurricane.  My heart, my thoughts and my prayers go out to
everyone who has been affected.  Below you will find many
links and information on how you can help (even if only in
a very small way).  Please open your heart and give all
you can to these people in their greatest time of need.
Every little bit helps!

Article:
As if the tragic events of Hurricane Katrina aren't bad
enough, scum people have to take advantage of the situation.
Looters are in the cities stealing what little these people
have left and destroying our confidence and trust in our
own people and neighbors.  Now that the military has finally
arrived, I'm glad to see that they have been instructed to
shoot these low-life looters.  You can't get much lower
than these 'people'.

But then, as predicted by many, Hurricane Katrina e-mail
spammers have set up shop and have targeted YOUR goodwill
and YOUR money to line their pockets further -- money that
was intended to help the hurricane victims.  So, these low-
life scum 'people' are also stealing from the needy.  So I
guess you would put them on about the same level as the
looters.

But you can save yourself and your money, and make sure your
giving goes to the right place -- where it's truly needed.
Below is an extensive list of legitimate sites accepting your
heartfelt donations (of many kinds) and you can let them know
that you want all your donation(s) to go directly to help
those in the greatest need -- those hit by the horrendous
Hurricane Katrina.

Before I provide you with the list of legitimate charity
sites, here are two sites that help you to determine if a
site is legitimate or not.  As you know, whenever there is
a major disaster, scammers begin sending out charity relief
scams within just a couple of hours (I've received many).

Please use your common sense and follow the tips outlined
for the tsunami scams a few months ago - the same things
will continue to happen after Hurricane Katrina:
http://www.scambusters.org/tsunamiscams.html

Also check out these tips for protecting yourself from
charity scams:
http://www.scambusters.org/charity.html

Although I'm sure this is not a complete list, it is very
extensive and as I learn of more legitimate charities, I
will add them to the list on my blog, which can be found

Below are a few sites set up specifically for the
victims of Hurricane Katrina:

To All Our Friends & Supporters Of Those In Need,

The Caring House Project Foundation has joined the relief
effort resulting from hurricane Katrina -
http://www.frank-mckinney.com/donatenow.html.

(Please forgive the look of this temporary page. If you
want to donate through a better looking page you can do so
through the Caring House Project Foundation main page).

Ken McCarthy of www.TheSystemSeminar.com, with the help of
several System grads and friends of the System, just
completed work on a web site that contains up-to-the minute
information about:

* The help that is most needed in the Gulf Coast states
  right now
* A list of accredited relief agencies you can donate to
* A directory of people who are offering housing to
  displaced people
* Practical ways business owners can help
* Fundraising ideas for Internet marketers
* Tax advice so that you can maximize your contributions

Also copied from an e-mail from Ken McCarthy is a
Hurricane Relief Resource List (this link was also
sent to me by Joe Vitale):

The Reuters Foundation 'Alertnet' just has referred me
to a very helpful resource for small business owners
and entrepreneurs who want to provide help to
hurricane survivors.

It's a comprehensive website that not only details
what relief organizations are currently engaged in the
Gulf coast region, but also describes the scope and
scale of their activities.

I'd like to encourage you to go over this list, read
about the missions each one of these groups is involved
in, select one you feel an affinity towards and make
a contribution today.

Recovery from this disaster will be a long, multi-stage
process, but there is an immediate need right now to
provide food, water, and medical attention to the people
who have lost their homes and means of support.
This is the best list I've found of groups that are
in the region and doing what needs to be done right now.

This came from from Perry Marshall of www.PerryMarshall.com:
You want to help the hurricane victims, you want your
dollars to go as far as possible... and you want to
make sure your donations don't get eaten up by
administration, or wind up in some Swiss bank account.

Right?

My wife's brother runs a relief organization, Children's
Relief International.  CRI specializes in helping kids in
extreme situations, and they're sending people right now
to distribute assistance and money to kids who need it.
So this is what I'm going to do:

I'm going to match your donation, dollar for dollar,
up to a total of $10,000.  One Hundred Percent will
go directly to aid.  And NO money will be taken out for
administration or travel expenses.

To also support this effort, Robert Middleton has set up
a free Yahoo Group where you can share what you are doing
to help people who were affected by this national disaster.

As I stated earlier, this is not an exhaustive list, but
it is extensive and you can pick your favorite charity (or
charities) to give to and be confident that your donations
are truly going to those who need it.  And remember to keep
these people in your hearts, thoughts and prayers.

Tip:
I am a believer in maintaining spiritual and mental health,
especially in trying times such as this.  One great way to
do this is by watching spiritual movies. I recently found a
link to 'The Spiritual Cinema Circle', the world's leading
values-inspired DVD club. These are MOVIES THAT INSPIRE,
HEAL AND TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE.  According to Deepak
Chopra, Author of "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success," "The
Spiritual Cinema Circle is providing a great service to
those who want to evolve and be entertained at the same
time."
