Hi and welcome to
the latest edition of
'Nita's Helping Hands'! I'm glad you're here!
Things have been very busy for me with new clients, new
jobs from long-term clients, and now I'm getting ready to
sign up to take classes to obtain my real estate license!
I do a large amount of work for a top-producing real estate
agent and obtaining my license will help by allowing me to
do a lot more of the work I currently can't do. So wish me
luck - I should have my license by the end of March!
I'm also offering the first discount on my services for
2006 and it's a great one! Until the end of January, you
can receive a 30% discount (current and new clients) off
your proofreading and editing services OR your 'virtual'
administrative services projects.
One of my long-term clients, National City Bank, has been
keeping me hopping so contact me soon at 502-243-6994
next project (most projects can be completed in just a
couple days or sooner)!
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
I also found out that many of you didn't receive my last
issue, so you can read it on my website
here. It includes a
lot of very useful information so I don't want you to miss
it!!
In this issue you will find more helpful tax information
(see my
back issues for more information), as well as
a great article providing pointers on making your website
pay. Enjoy the issue!

HERE'S WHAT THE IRS TEACHES ITS OWN
AUDITORS ABOUT THE MLM INDUSTRY
By Ron Mueller
If the IRS audits your Tax Return Schedule C, presumably
they know something about your type of business. How would
you like to know what the IRS teaches it's auditors about
the Direct Selling Industry?
Now you can read the IRS "Audit Technique Guide" (ATG) for
yourself. This is exactly the same guide the auditor is
supposed to read before he/she conducts a Schedule C audit
on a person in a network marketing business.
The Associated Press reported this week that the IRS
freezes tens of thousands of tax refunds each year if
they suspect fraud may be involved.
That's understandable, right? Maybe, but ...
THEY DON'T TELL YOU they've frozen your refunds - they
just secretly hold onto it, and that may last for an
"undisclosed number of YEARS, until the IRS sees the
taxpayer file a number of legitimate returns!"
They call it the "Questionable Refund Program," and it's
run by the IRS Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
Okay, they think maybe you've committed an offense, but
YOU aren't given ANY opportunity to clear things up or
to defend yourself, because they don't tell you
you're under investigation until SIX MONTHS into it!
That's just plain wrong, National Taxpayer Advocate
Nina Olson told Congress last week. "At a minimum,
this procedure constitutes an extraordinary violation
of fundamental taxpayer rights and fairness," she said.
"In our view, it may also constitute a violation of due
process of law."
In a sampling of cases brought to Ms. Olson's offices by
taxpayers during an 18 month period, the results were
shocking!
In 66% of the cases, NO EVIDENCE of fraud was found, and
the taxpayer was eventually given a full refund.
In another 14%, taxpayers were given a partial refund.
So, in 80% of the cases, all or part of legitimate refunds
were improperly frozen, while keeping the taxpayer in the
dark about being under investigation.
How concerned was Congress about this report? Apparently,
not very!
Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) Chairman of the Senate
Finance Committee, which oversees the IRS, said he was
"troubled by some issues raised by the IRS refund freezes."
That's IT? Troubled? He should be outraged!!!

So what if you don't have a list, website or product?
I'm so excited I can hardly type...
If you want to make massive amounts of cash on complete
autopilot without your own list, website or product, then
this 'secret weapon' from my friend Ewen Chia will shock
and thrill you and it's under 10 bucks right now!
For would-be online entrepreneurs, there are many aspects
to consider. Here are five ways to make sure your online
business fits the bill.
1. Get recognized.
Many sites have failed due to being buried at the bottom of
a Yahoo list. Do your homework on how to get users into your
online space. Linking to online auction sites is sometimes
necessary, or teaming up with more established merchants.
Either way, no one will buy if they don't show up.
2. Keep an eye on design.
A 'clunky' page turns users off. It's not that your site
needs to be 'slick'; it just needs a sense of balance and a
kind of aesthetic 'grace'. If you do your best HTML churning
or Dreamweaver navigation and the pages still look thrown
together, you could enlist the help of a savvy graphic
designer. It's what they do.
3. Maintain your copy.
This may seem like a small detail, but spelling and
grammatical errors can drive business away. A site with
well-pruned text shows the merchant's credibility, and a
sloppy sentence can make your business look, well, sloppy.
Or worse. Don't overlook the importance of 'clean copy'.
4. Get Paid.
Whether you are including credit card payment portals on
your site or using Pay Pal or another online service to
receive customer payments, your site needs to be set up for
easy access. Payment should be a painless process on the
client side. Otherwise, your customers might be tempted to
give up on you.
5. Go after Feedback.
Suggestions from outside can boost your internet sales, so
if you're interested in finding out what your clientele
thinks, you can include a 'guestbook' or online suggestion
box on your site. As an alternative, you can ask certain
individuals to access the site and provide feedback.
Attention to these methods will improve your chances of
being successful in the wide world of online advertising.
